About Zahr
He’s soft, he’s fluffy and loves flopping on your feet, clambering up for cuddles and spreading out like a puddle of cuteness- this is the best way to describe Zahr!
Zahr came into care without much exposure to the outside world and can still be a little overwhelmed with loud noises or too much going on. His foster carers have been working very hard to ensure his transition to family life is smooth. He is learning all the good things about living in a home and is always up for an off leash run with his doggy foster sibling.
At the park and playing with other dogs, he starts out quite shy and will circle the edges a while but when he feels safe he will chase, pounce, wrestle and roll. He really enjoys playing with other friendly doggos.
He is very food motivated which makes training a breeze. He has mastered sit, walking on a leash and lie down and his recall is coming along great! His foster carers have been sticking to a strict toileting regime and with this he hasn’t had any accidents inside. His new family should ensure they follow the same routine and have some patience while he learns where he is expected to toilet in a new environment.
A moderately active dog, he will need a decent amount of exercise daily to keep him happy. He is currently going for either a long daily walk or a play at the dog park when it is quieter. He loves adventuring and smelling new things along the way.
Zahr will require an experienced, dog savvy family that is committed to his ongoing development, training, socialisation and happiness. His new family should be willing to gently and positively expose him to the world around to help build his confidence and sense of security.
He is the best combination of cuddly and independent. He will gladly come for a snuggle but also enjoys his own time to relax by himself on the couch or a comfy rug. He is crate trained and sleeps in his bed on the floor of the carer’s bedroom. His new family must provide him with a warm and comfy bed inside to sleep of night.
This boy will require a home with another dog for company. He would thrive best in a household with a calm, confident, older dog. He is lover not a fighter, and a follower
not a leader, so needs a stable and positive role model to bond with.
Due to his foster carer working from home, he has not been left home much so his new family will either need to be home most of the time or if they are out for a few days a week, will need to be prepared to put in the work to ensure he is settled and happy before you leave. We won’t be looking for families who are out fulltime as it will be too drastic a change for this boy. Due to Zahr being a little on the shy side, we feel he would do best in a home without children until he finds his feet and the noise of a busy household won’t overwhelm him as much.
If you feel you can offer this sweet boy a loving home that suits his needs, please apply by completing the adoption enquiry form on our Fetching Dogs website as the next step.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
