About Poppie
Hi, my name is Poppie!
I am a sweet affectionate loving girl who is 2 years old.
I love to play with both human and doggie friends. My favourite game is fetch, a big or small ball, it doesn’t matter as long as it goes a long way! I like my Chomp ball best, they are chewy and don’t break easy. I also love to play tug with my foster brother or my foster mum!
I joined my foster family nearly 4 weeks ago and I have learnt a lot in this time. So much is new for me, I have mostly lived outside prior to this, but now sleep in the house at night though I do still enjoy being outside a lot especially with my foster brother. The sun is fun to bake in! I am a very quick learner (though I’m not motivated by food yet). Praise is more for me and I have learnt to sit, stay, lay down, bring the ball back and come when I am called.
I hadn’t been walked on a lead prior to arriving in my foster home, so had to adjust to this and learn not to pull - I am really improving at this, with some more practice I am sure I will master this skill!
My foster family have also been house training me. To be honest, they are driving me nuts! Every few hours they take me outside and ask me to go to the toilet! I am getting the hang of this and I am sure with some continued training, I'll be taking myself out to wee in no time (if only so they will stop being annoying and let me snooze! hehe)
As I'm a working breed, I have a lot of energy to burn. I am very curious and active. I absolutely strive on structure, so boundaries and routine as well as continuing my training are a must. Walks are also very important, if you are not able to take me out for two walks per day, I would need at least one long one each day followed by a big game of fetch or tug in the afternoon or early evening.
Of an evening, I would absolutely love to snuggle up near you while you watch TV or go about your nightly routine.
I am very fast and very agile, my foster mum thinks I'd have a lot of fun at agility or a doggy sport!
I love to chew on things so it's important that I have an outlet for this! My foster mum has put away any obstacles that could be dangerous and she has made sure I have toys to chew, Kongs and treat puzzles to keep my mind and mouth working!
If you have other pets, please could we be introduced gently and slowly. I love my foster brother but when I arrived I was very stressed and frightened so I wasn't ready to be his friend. I was a bit leash and barrier reactive with him which is not really true to me - I am so relaxed with both him and all the other dogs I have met and I wouldn't hurt a fly! I needed a few days in my own space and a gentle introduction on some walks - and now my foster brother and I are best buddies now, we play a lot throughout the day!
I have been vaccinated, microchipped, desexed and given flea/worming treatment.
I promise, you will love me instantly and I will complement your beautiful family, hope to meet you soon!
Love Poppie!
