About Bear Melbourne
Bear only needs three things in his life. Walks, food and love. Lots and lots of love. He’s an affectionate and trusting boy who has a heart of solid gold and will make his lucky parents incredibly happy. He gets along very well with greyhounds and is his most relaxed with another dog in the house.
He is still not sure about other types of dogs and will take some more time and patience to be comfortable meeting them. He is getting a lot better at walking past dogs on his walks and is responsive to “no” and a little pull to keep walking. He very quickly learnt how to go up and down the stairs and will search all rooms of the house to find his humans just to be near you. He just had a little grit removed from his paw but otherwise he is a perfectly happy and healthy hound, although very clumsy!
Bear is a big boy. He’s 35KG of pure love bouncing around waiting for pats. He’s a handsome boy with beautiful eyes and grey eyebrows and the sweetest white toes and tiny dip of white on his tail. If you stop petting him he’ll let it be known if he’s not ready for the love to end with a few playful nibbles and roaches.
He’s a bit of a scaredy cat and has been known to jump on a bed quivering if something scares him in the night but usually he’s fast asleep! Bear’s foster parent’s favourite part of him is his little crossed legs when he’s leaning on you for pats, and his cute little blep tongue. He will make his new pawrents incredibly happy and they will be the luckiest parents alive!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
