About Yang
Hello, my name is Yang! I am a 6-month-old, chihuahua cross. I have a brown, short haired coat painted with sable tips. This is complimented by a white stripe running down my nose which opens up to a larger patch on my chest.
I came to SAFE as an owner surrender with my sister Yin. We are currently in foster care together, but as time goes on, I am showing more independence and would happily go to a home as an only pet. However, to help with the transition I will need a home where someone is around a lot in the beginning, before gradually being left on my own more.
As well as being in foster care with my sister, I also have the company of another dog and children. I get along fine with everyone. As time has passed by, I have developed great trust with my Foster Carers helping my confidence to blossom.
While I am not as talkative as your typical chihuahua I will let off a ""big"", brave bark when someone new is visiting my Foster Carers. But this is just due to my timidness and once introduced I am more than happy to soak up the attention.
Unfortunately, I have had little to no training in my life thus far. However, I am eager to put my youthful brain to the test and develop lifetime doggy manners. With patience, positive reinforcement and treats I will make great progress with basic commands such as sit, stay and walking on a lead.
Although I am not the most energetic dog, I do sometimes dig out of boredom, even with the company of my fur friends. So, I would benefit from having lots of toys to keep me interactive as well as a couple of outings throughout the week.
If you are willing to take a leap into the world of animal adoption, I would love to be the dog to do it with you.
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once a day (and twice for working dog breeds) is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me ""no"" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them.
I CAN FLY TO PERTH!
Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations, because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to you in Perth.
