About Amigo
Hello there, my name is Amigo which in Spanish means FRIEND, do you have what it takes to be my lifelong friend?
I have been told that I am a very handsome guy that has a beautiful cheeky smile. Once you have earnt my trust, I am one genuinely happy, go lucky little guy who loves nothing more than to be with my humans.
Since coming into care my true personality is slowly starting to shine, each day my anxiety and worry of abandonment is getting less and my confidence is slowly growing.
Unbeknownst to my foster family at the time I celebrated my 10th Birthday a couple of days after coming into care, they were very apologetic for missing it, but the cuddles and treats were very welcomed.
I have really become used to the comforts of indoor living and have lovely indoor manners. I am told that I am an incredibly good boy, but I do crave human company.
I have spent a good part of my life living outside so I need someone who is home often as I can get quite distressed when I cannot see or be with you. Apart from my neediness of human company, I do enjoy the simple but finer things in life whether it be with you watching tv and me snoozing next to you on the lounge, walking around the garden with you whilst you garden or relax or snuggled up to you in bed whilst you read or sleep, throw in some cuddles and a good bum scratch what more could a guy want.
I am toilet trained.
I LOVE going for walks with my foster fur brother and sisters, so much so I will sing and dance and do 360’s when I see my foster family get my harness and lead ready. My fur brother and sisters are medium/large breed dogs, their size does not phase me in the slightest because they are all very friendly toward me and give me space and even though their legs are so much longer than mine I easily keep up to their pace. I walk well on my lead and only occasionally react to the neighbourhood dogs when they bark at me, I am however improving each day.
I sometimes bark at my foster family’s cats but when near them I have not shown any aggression, but in saying that they are bigger than me and are very chilled cats as they are used to dogs.
Food wise I am not overly fussy. My foster family cook my meals of chicken, vegetables, and brown rice in the slow cooker, like they do for all my fur siblings. I also get to enjoy roast chicken, beef strips, raw chicken wings and Black Hawk biscuits.
My teeth were extremely poor, and I had terrible smelling breath when I came into care, but the rescue got all my dental work done.
Because of my coat I will also need to have regular maintenance grooms done to keep me looking beautiful. The groomer says that I was like a puppy having their first groom, but I should improve the more I get it done.
My ideal family would be home for the most part and would want to include me as an important part of the family. I have had siblings for a good portion of my life so I would certainly enjoy being a solo pampered and much loved pooch or if you already have another fur child I would love a happy, friendly fur sibling that is not overly boisterous and will let me have plenty of cuddles with you.
If children are in the equation, I think I would prefer older children that know how to treat me with love and kindness.
If you think that you may be the perfect fit for me, please apply so my people can hook you up for chance to meet with me.

If applying to adopt one of our furbabies over the age of 6 months we recommend that you bring to the meet and greet any of your furbabies to see how they interact.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
