About Snoop ~ 5yr Old Ridgeback X (On Trial 27/09/20)
Snoop is a gentle, loving 5 year old ridgeback x cattle x malamute. He is looking for a family who will shower him with love and welcome him inside as part of the family.
Snoop would suit someone home regularly, perhaps someone who is retired. He would be very happy with regular human contact but could also be suited to other dog company. His brother lives next door to him, as well as a foxy x he plays well with both. He dosn't meet many new dogs so he will need an introduction to any potential fur companions to become comfortable. He can be somewhat dominant in his play style, so he may not be well matched with another dominant play style.
Snoop does get a bit upset when left alone and he will head off to go and find company if given the chance. He is not a fence jumper, but he will need a secure yard to make sure he doesn't go wandering and put himself in danger. Having company, human and/or fur, will reduce his anxiety and this behaviour.
Snoop can walk well on lead, but he is a bit out of practice. With training and a walking harness he will remember how to walk politely and to ignore other dogs. He is a strong boy so will need owners who are comfortable with his size.
Snoop is very gentle (though he may need a reminder of this when excited!). He has basic training and will not eat his dinner sitting in front of him until he is told he can. However, if he hears you getting food or smells it he will come & sit quietly about one metre away & wait quietly for some leftovers!
Snoop has a sand patch he digs in & sits in. He does not dig gardens and won't eat your plants. He loves a good run & will be a good guard dog - he will bark at passing people and dogs if he doesn’t know. He has not been exposed to cats and would not be suited to living with one.
We believe Snoop may have had something traumatic (most likely fireworks) in his earlier life that has made him easy to startle. For example if you drop something or use loud power tools, he may cower or go & hide. He can be wary of tall or large men until they meet & he is comfortable.
Snoop is a beautiful boy who will make a wonderfully loyal companion. To apply for this gorgeous boy, you can complete the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
For more information on Snoop, please contact Jenn on email drn.jenn@gmail.com. Snoop is located in the Lake Macquarie area NSW.
Snoop's adoption fee is $300 and includes desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
