About Winston
Hello and welcome to the world of Winston!!
Winston is a fun loving young dog who loves dog and human company alike. He is a smart, quirky little goof ball and he's looking for his perfect forever home! Winston is an almost a full sized dog, on a little legged body. Due to his his long body and short legs, he sometimes tumbles and rolls along the grass!
Despite his size, Winston has a lot of energy to burn! He absolutely loves to run and frolic with his doggy foster brothers. He has really come out of his shell since arriving and he adores his playful doggy friends. He loves the company of humans, though he is best suited to a home where he can have a good balance of time alone with a doggy friend and time with his people.
Winston is an intelligent little fellow who is an absolute dream to train. He is doing very well with his place training and he is also crate trained, sleeping inside his crate all night without so much as a peep! He is learning to self calm and enjoy some down time when he's had a big play and this is one of the things we'd love to have him keep working on in his forever home. He walks well on the lead and doesn't pull when walked on a flat collar - he likes to take his time and zig zag around, sniffing all that life has to offer him!
As he is quite a high energy pup, Winston needs both physical exercise and mental stimulation in order to keep the boredom at bay. He loves to eat his breakfast and dinner out of a puzzle toy and enjoys the challenge it provides! On the flip side, if left alone for long periods, he is partial to a spot of unapproved gardening, a chew on a less than appropriate chew toy or singing the songs of his people.
He is not fussed by cats who are dog savvy and he shows little interest toward foul on the other side of a fence.
Winston is a great little dude with a fun, playful personality. He's looking for a forever home with:
- A playful, confident doggy brother or sister to show him the ropes and play with him.
- A family who will continue his training on focus, impulse control and structured game play (as well as basic obedience).
****Special Needs****
Winston is looking for a home who will continue his training. He thrives on clear communication and boundaries so a forever family who is willing to spend time to build their relationship, help him work on things like impulse control and continue his crate training so he has his own safe space is paramount for his continued development.
He has had a tough start to life and when he came into foster care he was very withdrawn - he has really come out of his shell recently with focused training and a playful doggy side kick.
