About Tilly Melbourne
Tilly has come leaps and bounds since arriving in her Gumtree Greys foster home. Like many greyhounds, Tilly had never experienced a set of stairs, spent time with other dog breeds or experienced the luxury of sleeping on a soft bed. But she’s taken every experience in her stride and conquered each fear (and comfy couch) with style and grace. Tilly has acclimated incredibly well to life as a pet and we have no doubt her new owner will feel as if they have won the lottery.
Tilly is the BIGGEST chatterbox. And no, we don’t mean talking. In fact, we’ve never even heard Tilly bark. But she does chatter, shaking her teeth together any time she’s excited or joyful – which is most of the time. Her teeth chatter before walks, before food, before cuddles and after playing with toys. It’s her defining feature – and a super cute one at that.
Around the house Tilly is easy as pie. She loves snuggles and will curl up next to you on the couch if allowed, but has no qualms being left home on her own for short periods either. She’s toilet trained, eats very politely and isn’t destructive in the slightest. She walks well on a lead and gets along well with other dogs. In fact, we think she would be quite open to living with a doggy friend in her new home.
She’s a small girl with a big heart and huge personality. It only takes one look inside her sweet brown eyes to fall in love. You have been warned.
No cat or very small dog applications please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
