About Malani
Malani is a gorgeous little girl who is starting to thrive after having a bad start to life. She was dumped outside a vet clinic with her siblings in a severely emaciated state. A high-quality diet and some TLC has seen her be transformed physically. Now, Malani likes to think of herself as a lap dog and she will happily climb onto any lap for a nice cuddle or snuggle up next to you on the couch. She is also a sucker for a good belly rub and there is no chance you will say no to that with her adorable puppy eyes. Malani is friendly with people and enjoys getting attention. She also likes to jump and climb on anything and thoroughly enjoys play time interactions with her foster carer.
While in foster care, Malani has been living with another dog, had a holiday stay with another household of dogs and been exposed to dogs out and about in controlled circumstances. She is social with other dogs but can be hesitant when first meeting them. It is important that she continues to have positive interactions with other dogs in a controlled environment to ensure that she continues to grow in confidence. Once she is comfortable with her doggie friends, she is very playful and enjoys a rough and tumble kind of game. Malani will be a dog with medium energy levels who will require daily exercise and stimulation to keep her happy and healthy in the future. Providing mental stimulation is of great benefit to her and she enjoys playing games and doing training in the yard on a daily basis.
Malani has made significant progress during her time in care after having delayed socialisation skills and training. She is extremely food motivated which assists in her training. So far, she has learnt to sit, stay, lie down, wait, leave it and come in her foster home. She has also attended puppy preschool and travels well in the car. Malani is still delayed with her toilet training and this will require continued work in her new home. Despite how well she has come along with her training, it is imperative that her new family are firmly committed to continuing her training and socialisation, preferably under the guidance of a recommended trainer or behaviouralist, to ensure that she continue to progress in the right direction.
Please do not apply if you do not have another dog at home or are a novice dog owner. We are looking for an experienced home for Malani where she will be included as part of the family. She is going to need a home where someone is home most of the time AND there is another friendly and stable dog to be a positive role model who can also be a playmate.
Malani’s family must be committed to continuing her training and positive socialisation. She should be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a warm bed to sleep on inside at night. Malani has lived for a few days with a cat who she was fine with but appropriate introductions and guidance would still be required in a new home if she is to coexist with them. Malani shows interest in interacting with children but is better suited to older children over 15 so that there is more consistency with her training.
If you think you can offer Malani a loving and structured home environment and would like to apply for her then please complete a dog adoption enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
