About Tigger
Hello!! My name is Tigger.
Just like my namesake, I’m a very friendly and playful young boy who loves the company of both humans, and dogs (my carers are confident cats will be okay too). I even like to pounce while playing with my kelpie mix foster sister!
I am well-mannered and very quiet. I enjoy being inside with my humans as I really enjoy their company. I like to follow my people around the house - which is very cute but something I am slowly learning not to do. I am looking for a family that - among other things - can commit to continue work on my confidence and place training to teach me that I don't always need to be your shadow!
In my foster home, I have earned the nickname ‘Curious Tig’ as I like to explore all the nooks and crannies inside the house. My favourite toy is my chew toy, though I do need some supervision while I am still learning what I am allowed to play with and what is out of bounds. I am house trained and settle very well on my bed at night, letting my humans know if I need a toilet stop first thing in the morning.
Due to trauma in my past, I am very nervous around cars and am learning not to be afraid when going for a car ride in one. The sound of distant cars concerns me at times and makes me feel anxious. I do not like the beach and find it very overwhelming. I will walk for short distances on leash, however I am most comfortable when at my home and in my yard with room to bound and play. With that in mind, I'd love a large yard (or even a little bit of land!) so that I have plenty of room to explore.
I am a very gentle and affectionate young man who needs an experienced dog owner with the time and patience to help me succeed. I need a home with a playful, confident doggy role model who can help me to be the bravest boy that I can be.

SPECIAL NEEDS:
Tigger has suffered trauma in his past life and as such, he has some very specific needs. We are careful to have an open mind when assessing applicants however for Tigger - these things are what he needs as a minimum so we feel we should be up front about them.
1. Tigger is fearful of the sounds/sights of moving vehicles. He is not suited to frequent car trips, visits to cafe's etc. Tigger prefers to spend his time in a large yard where he has room to play, run and explore without being near the hustle and bustle. If you lead a very busy life and want a dog to take everywhere with you or to the beach on the weekend, Tigger is unfortunately not suited to this.
2. Tigger needs a confident, playful doggy friend to help show him the ropes and give him some confidence around the home.
3. Tigger needs a family/owner who is dedicated to helping him to gain confidence and continue the training that has been started in foster care. This is beyond basic obedience with more of a focus on relationship building, confidence building and tools he can use in his day to day life to help him through his fear.
*Note* We are partnered with Eavings Rehab for training with adoptive families and we strongly believe both Tigger and his forever family would see great benefit in these sessions. Understanding Tiggers fears, drives and body language will be paramount to helping him to adjust to his new home and to continue to improve his confidence over time.

Adoption details
Do not send an "Enquiry" on pet rescue - please instead complete steps below:
Step 1: Fill in our application form with as much detail as possible - https://forms.gle/sPnL6QS2ik5A5XUR8
Step 2: If suitable, one of our foster carers will contact you via phone to further discuss the dog you have applied for and assess suitability. The same will also be done for other applicants.
Step 3: A meet and greet will then be organised so that you and the dog can meet.
Step 4: Once the meet and greet has been completed, if our team advises that you may be a suitable candidate you will then be required to submit a detailed written application (a template will be emailed to you) - we will then assess all applications and get back to you with an outcome. We may request a home inspection prior to finalising any application.
