About Kovu
Hi there, my name is Kovu and there is way more to me than just my adorable looks.
I am 3 and a half years old and not had the most conventional start to life.
Coming into care I have experienced a lot of firsts. My foster Mum says that there is so much more in life for me to experience yet!
I have thrived in care with the help of my foster family, they have taught me how to love, how to play, how to walk on a lead and go out into the big world and sniff everything!
My foster mum says my confidence is growing but I still show fear on new things so I am hoping my new family will give me time to adjust as well as to continue to grow in confidence. I have learnt to sit on my foster families lap and the couch and on the bed (I love sleeping on the bed with my family and then thru the night going to my own bed, but I’m back when it’s wake up time and cuddles!) I can’t jump up on the couch by myself so would love stairs or a human slave to help me up.
My foster mum has this special room that brings out all this amazing food for me – I love food – snacks, dinner, treats – oh yeah!!!
My foster mum tried to put clothes on me but I’m not a fan and can do a strip within a blink of an eye.
I love car trips and being part of the family – they put this harness thing on me and I know that means a car trip or a walk!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!! But as I’m small long distances make me tired so I have learnt how to just plop down and that means my foster mum or dad carry me hee hee.
My foster mum says I have beautiful manners and always wait for the ladies to go out the door first ‘she say’s I’m a gentleman’. I think having manners is important as I love being with my humans cause I’m good they love hanging out with me as well.
Back to this food thing – my mum makes my food – gosh it’s yum!!! And she introduced me to these things called Pig ears – OMG yes!!!!! I do have to be monitored while eating them but I love them!!
I have also learnt from the human kids this game called fetch mum mumbles something about I’m getting there and the success rate is 3 out of 5 – I think that’s good yeah??
I have full access to inside and outside all day and night and I love it – I have a spot outside on a patio couch that is ‘my spot’ I have a snooze in the sun on it everyday! My mum says I can have full access as I am also toilet trained
I love playing with little humans (but not little humans that scream and squeal a lot as they do scare me). I am really gentle with them and I do hope they will be gentle with me.
My foster mum has said the one thing I am not good with is cats – not a fan – just saying!
I have hung out with another small breed dog and I did enjoy that.
My ideal family would be a loving family who will understand and have the time and patience to be able to introduce me to things at my own pace.
I would benefit having a fur sibling or two to play with and to continue teaching me about the life of a loved and spoilt dog

Paw Prints Canine Rescue is a non for profit dog rescue located in Southeast Queensland.
All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
If applying to adopt one of our furbabies over the age of 6 months we recommend that you bring to the meet and greet any of your furbabies to see how they interact.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 2 week trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby.
