Hey guys!
My name is Bailey, and I was rescued by Off The Chain after my owners left me in the pound and I was scheduled to be put to sleep after my time was up. I was really scared in the pound, and was very underweight and not well looked after at all; I was very grateful to be rescued and get some love!
I am a loving, happy girl who is really grateful for any love and affection I can get. I am house trained, and sleep inside or out at my current foster house- it doesn't really worry me where, as long as I have somewhere warm to snuggle up! I have one heck of a bark, and will definitely scare off intruders - though my owner will only hear it if someone is at the gate or sneaking around the street, or if the next door neighbour's dog is yelling at me.
I currently spend up to 8hrs a day at home on my own while my carers are away from the home. I hang out in the yard and play with my toys- my favourites are rope toys, and one very special pterodactyl soft toy. I live behind 6ft colourbond and like a high fence to keep me secure- so 5ft fences or higher are best for me please! At around 9months old I was 23kg- I will likely be 25-30kg as an adult. I still believe I am a lap dog however- getting your cuddles is what makes me happiest! I would probably be best in a home with kids over 10yrs, as I would hate to bump little kids over and scare them in my excitement!
I know how to come, sit, stay, wait and leave it- and am fairly good when the mower/whippersnipper/drill is out. I have no known fears or phobias, and LOVE to play fetch! I also like to have a clamshell pool full of dirt and sand to dig in. Maybe you could get me one and bury my toys in it? It keeps me occupied for ages and is such a cheap and easy game for me.
I go great in the car, and happily stick my head out the window to take in the sights and smells. I get very excited at the vet- any attention is good attention! I have lived with other dogs since coming into foster care, but tend to get in trouble with them because I am a little too pushy when I want to play, and don't understand when they're telling me to back off. So while a dog friend would be nice for me, it would have to be someone energetic and keen to play, who will calmly assert themselves without hurting me if I'm being annoying. I would also go fine living alone. I would love to be taken for walks a few times a week, to sniff and explore new places. My leash skills are getting there; with some practice I would be great. I haven't yet met cats, so it would be best if I didn't live with any.
I am a really sweet girl who's ready to finally have a forever family. Could that be you? Will you make up for my younger months of neglect, and show me the love I deserve?
Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All dogs must be collected by the adopting families, from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
