About Poppy
Say hello to Poppy!
Poppy is a gorgeous, young and intelligent little Kelpie who came into care a few months ago with a litter of pups, after 4 previous homes, so we are keen to ensure her next home is her last home! SHe has been with us for a while now awaiting the right home to come along.
Poppy's ideal home will be with an owner/family who understands the Kelpie breed well. In her current foster home, we have discovered that Poppy has a terrific instinct for sheep herding and we would love to find her an environment where her training in this area can continue, allowing Poppy to reach her full potential.
Having a job to do on a hobby farm will benefit Poppy greatly. She is a terrific little companion when invited inside and settles brilliantly when asked. She also loves cuddles and is good around children.
Poppy is crate trained, toilet trained, respectful around other dogs of varying ages and sizes, and knows some basic obedience (sit (with implied stay), place, kennel, and her release word "ok". She also walks very well on and off leash, however needs work on recall when around other animals as she becomes very focused. She loves going for car rides and walks in the bush. She really is the kind of dog you can take everywhere.
It is clear that our active girl does best in a home with another dog, so homes without another dog will unfortunately not be considered.
If you think you might have the perfect home for Poppy, we would love to hear from you!
Poppy is located in Ballarat. Due to the current Covid restrictions, we will only be taking enquiries from residents outside of the Metro Melbourne/Mitchell shire at this stage.
Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
