Bonnie

Introducing BONNIE, a purebred standard bull terrier female, with papers.

This very affectionate, well-socialised and active girl is five years old. She has been surrendered to us due to a change in family circumstances and not through any fault of her own.

When she first came into care, she was displaying some obsessive behaviours, a legacy of being left in a backyard with little to do. Being a clever girl, she developed games for herself that, unfortunately, became obsessions. However, with training, she has progressed very quickly and is on the way to leaving these behaviours behind.

According to our trainer, a bull terrier lover with more than 20 years' experience, Bonnie is a very clever and responsive dog, probably the most intelligent she has ever worked with. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body and is not destructive, but needs plenty of mental stimulation, company and exercise to keep her content. Our trainer has exposed her to impulse control games and says she has performed very well. She also says it's important for a prospective owner to understand that Bonnie responds better to diversion than confrontation.

Bonnie can jump bars and go through tunnels and, according to our trainer, has a real knack for agility work.

Although Bonnie gets along well with most dogs, she's very people-focused and is keen to please. In her previous home, she lived successfully with a cat and, while she chased our trainer's cat (for fun), she made no attempt to hurt it.

Bonnie is used to living outside and is not well house-trained, although this is a problem that could be remedied with time and patience. This doesn't mean, however, that she can't have access to the inside of the home. She just needs easy access to the outside when nature calls. She would be happy enough sleeping in a kennel or bed on a verandah at night.

Bonnie is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and her adoption fee is $650.

Please note that we are based in Warwick, Queensland and are not accepting interstate applications at the present time. You must be willing to travel to Warwick to meet Bonnie. We do not, under any circumstances, send dogs to homes without first meeting the applicant/s in person.
