About Flash
Flash by name, but certainly not by nature. Flash is a big lazy bones with a glorious long nose and big radar ears. When he is not roaching on the couch he loves to be nosy and check out what you are doing. Flash has a serious case of FOMO. He loves his people and once he bonds with you then he loves nothing more than being near you and seeing what you are up to. Once he knows where you are he will choose the best spot to curl up and have a snooze.
Flash can get a bit nervous being in a new home. It takes him a few days to settle and feel comfortable with his new people. He is particularly fearful of people approaching him when he is lying down. This does improve as he gains your trust. He is very affectionate though and is known for coming up and plonking his head into your chest or between your legs for a good body scratch. He is always prone to a good lean as well and will take any chance to come and sidle up to you for some love. He is such a sweet boy and just needs a bit of patience and time.
Flash gets very excited for his walks. It doesn't take too much to wear him out - two shorter walks a day will do it. He is fine with meeting other greyhounds and has attended a number of greyhound walks. He can get nervous around other breeds of dogs and needs very slow introductions to these when on a walk. He walks beautifully on the lead and gets excited whenever a lovely human passes that wants to say hello. He leaps like they are his new best friend.
He absolutely adores a car trip. He loves to stick his head out of the window for a bit and then eventually will have a good lie down or even a snooze. He loves nothing more than hanging out with his people and would prefer that someone is home more often than not.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
