About Ozzie~Cattle dogxMastiff puppy (On Trial 25/07/20)
Are you cold this winter? Do you need someone to snuggle and keep you warm? Ozzie to the rescue. He is a big cuddly 6-8 month old puppy (cattle dog x mastiff). There may be some other large breeds as this sweet boy is larger than the average cattle dog. He may have a working dog in him but he did not inherit the working gene. All Ozzie wants is a new family and somewhere to lay around.
To put it simply Ozzie is a sweetheart - he’s affectionate and gentle and just wants pats and attention. He is soft and fluffy and a total cuddler. He’s had a rough start but he still has an innocence and confidence that means he enjoys meeting and being with his people . He’ll sit on your feet for an ear scratch and roll over for belly rubs.
Ozzie is only available for adoption to a home who will have him inside with them and include him in all aspects of their daily life. With Ozzie’s sweetness and affection for people he’s certainly not an outside only dog. He still needs to learn some manners, for example, not to steal the hotdog roll from the counter and to not drink from the toilet. With that said, he is smart and a very quick learner knowing basic commands.
He has not been socialised with other dogs and seems to be shy but he has met with many dogs (currently has two foster brothers) with no issues. Like most pups he will benefit from daily walks and a lifestyle which includes fun activities. He is untested with cats or pocket pets..
For more information on our big cuddly boy Ozzie please contact us on email or renee.goreham@gmail.com. Ozzie is in foster care near Medowie, north of Newcastle. He is not available for interstate adoption.
Ozzie’s adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au”
Medical notes
Ozzie has front feet that splay outwards when he sits - it doesn’t seem to impact him and could just be a result of his puppy growth spurt. Being a large breed dog of unknown genetics his new family will need to consider that some large dogs are prone to leg or hip issues during their lifetime. His new family will need to factor any future medical costs relating to legs or hips into their decision to adopt a potential giant breed like Ozzie.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
