About Henry
Are you searching for your 'other half'? Do you feel like you have lost your shadow?
Perhaps a small gentle dachshund who will follow you everywhere you go?
Henry is a beautiful gentle 3 year old Dachshund who is quiet, calm and loving.
Henry came into care needing some TLC - he has received that in spades from his foster mum and he's now ready to find that special person / family who will have no issues with never been alone again!
Henry is the ultimate shadow to his human companion - he is a very quiet, chilled little man who just loves to be near his humans - he will quietly follow you everywhere you go if he is allowed.
Henry currently goes to work his foster mum and is very happy to find a quiet spot (loooves selecting a spot on a bookcase and snoozing).
Henry is coming along really nicely on his toilet training he is getting a really great routine for going outside but there is still a few small accidents, he has made it very clear to his foster mum he is not a fan of being outside by himself for very long - . So if the choice is to stay inside with his human or go out to the toilet - well lets just say Henry will on occasions leave it until he is busting to go. There has been a few accidents on tiles of a pee - never a poo on carpets or rugs and something he is working on daily.
Henry loves his food - and has not meet a meal his foster mum makes him or gives him he doesn't like - same for treats!! His foster mum does continually remind him that whilst he came into care underweight we are still needing to be mindful of weight gain.
Henry's currently in care with big foster fur brother - Henry's first reaction when he saw his new fur brother was to freeze and pretend he couldn't see him - Henry is now a lot more comfortable around his big fur brother who has tried to teach him to play a bit but he's more happy curled up next to his human or watching him play - playing on grass is not really his thing. Snuggles are!
Henry has not been tested with cats but as his foster mum says nothing really seems to bother him so he should be fine with cats as well - Henry is not a runner / excerciser so the thought of having to chase one would probably make him sleepy (unless his humans chases cats and then he would simply just follow).
Henry is great with kids but don't wouldn't really liked to be carried around by them - he would be more then happy watching them play.
Henry is awesome at bath time - splashing about means energy - and that's not him! He's more then happy to stand there and be washed and worshipped aaaaaand he know that bath times means a treat and a cuddle!
Henry does love a car ride and very much love to just curl up and snooze while you do the driving - His theory is that he will leave the peak hour traffic stuff to his foster mum,
Henry does have his own special bed that he sleeps soundly all night next to his foster mum's bed and then in the morning one of his favorite times of the day is to snuggle with her on the bed - and especially loves to bury under the covers - his heart will sing if you let him do this.
Just need to reiterate to you that he will be your shadow he will follow you EVERYWHERE - he loves nothing more then being with you - lying on your lap, next to you on the couch (he does enjoy a mink blanket to sleep on lol)
Loud noises and sharp movements do still startle him but as he settles and gets more confidence in himself that does ease.
So if you think Henry sound like your type of fur friend please send in an application to the rescue!
