About Brando
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Brando
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Great Dane X Greyhound, he's a big boy with plenty of personality and oodles of love!
ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, reserved, loyal, gentle and playful! He's huge and has a giant heart as well as a wonderful demeanor. .
FAVOURITE THINGS: Loves company. As an older boy he does sleep a fair bit, but also likes to know that his human is there. He will knock you with his big boofy head to get attention and loves to lean against you. He loves to go for his daily walks, and is happy to play with friendly female dogs. He throws and retrieves his own tennis balls which is hilarious to watch!
OTHER ANIMALS: He's generally friendly with dogs, he likes calm dogs, especially females. He can be overbearing with males. If a dog barks at him he will engage and bark back, but otherwise he's not particularly interested. He is aggressive towards cats so we wouldn't recommend a home with small pets.
GENERAL INFO: Brando is housetrained and is very well behaved when inside. He will stay on his mat when told to. He walks well on the lead and is using a Halti which works well for him. He's generally a fairly quiet boy but will bark or howl to get attention but not continuously. He loves to chew on pigs ears, and the occasional bone keeps him happy. He was quite deaf when he was surrendered due to a chronic ear infection, but as this has been cleared up with treatment his hearing has improved to some degree. He is in very good health. He knows a couple of commands and is very eager to please. Brando has always been an only dog and should continue to be so. He has a little 'dance' that he does when he's happy. He's always very patient and waits for his food.
DISLIKES: Being left alone for long periods of time. Dogs in his line of vision that bark at him.
HOME ESSENTIALS:
STABILITY: An adult only home where someone is home for a good part of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19)
TIME: Brando needs an owner who will put in the time to give him the stability he needs. He's a strong boy and can be reactive to barking dogs. He needs someone who can guide him gently with positive reinforcement. At least 1 x 30 minute walk a day is essential to keep him happy - he loves to sniff.
SPACE: Brando needs a good sized yard with lots of things for him to sniff and space to run around to stretch his legs - he has a long stride.
LOVE: Brando needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, and to be included as part of the family. Being an older boy he needs to be kept cool in the summer and warm in the winter so sleeping inside is a must. He needs a home where he's showered with love and completely spoilt in his senior years. He will also need secure fencing and gates - 6ft would be good.
EXPERIENCE: As he's a large dog, we would prefer someone who has experience with this size of dog and will know how to handle him. If you have owned a Great Dane before, even better.
If Brando sounds like the boy for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
