About Misia Pup
*Applicants MUST have another well socialised, playful, confident dog & be experienced with fearful/timid dogs*
Misia is beautiful & loving pup. This is a long bio, because Misia is a very special case and will need some very experienced, patient, 100% committed adoptive parents. She is the kind of dog that would be another dogs absolute BEST friend, but she also is very gentle and loving to her people once bonded and comfortable, which will take some time.
She loves to tumble and play with her foster sister dog and enjoys playing with her human companions also. Misia is very switched on, she is also food driven, these factors have helped greatly in her training so far.
Misia did not have the best start to life, when she arrived into her foster home she was extremely timid and afraid of humans, however over the last month whilst settling into a new life, daily training and hard work, being shown patience, love and guidance every step of the way – she has really flourished and is gaining her confidence in leaps and bounds.
Misia will require a lot of commitment & further training to reinforce her foundations and to bond with her new people. Initially, Misia will benefit from someone being home all the time to help her settle in, get comfortable and learnt he ropes / boundaries & keep an eye on her as she adjusts. Her new family must be able to commit to 1-on-1 training with a trainer approved by FFAR. We would strongly recommend that her adopter considers this commitment before applying, as it will be a long term investment into Misia so that she grows up through her adolescence and adult stages as a confident, resilient and well adjusted dog.
Misia sits, drops, hi-5s, up, off, shakes, on your bed, and usually comes on command, once she has bonded & settled with her people. She continues to grow her confidence when walking on the leash, but this is still very early days for Misia as the outside world can be quite scary for her. Training, patience and time will see Misias confidence sore! Misia sleeps through the night on her own bed inside a crate/den and is almost fully toilet trained.
Misia's adoptive family must have a well socialised & trained, playful, confident dog. Misia often takes guidance from older resident dogs, showing her that the world is a great place and safe. She is friendly and playful with other dogs and interacts well.
Misia's background is unknown, she is currently a timid dog around people, new environments and situations. However, her confidence improves daily with behavioural adjustment training & positive reinforcement. She is learning that humans are not all bad and that she can experience love and safety.
Misia will take some time to settle in a new environment due to these factors, so please manage your expectations. She is sweet & affectionate once she bonds a person.
We are not 100% sure what breed Misia is or how big she will get, at approximately 5ish months old now, she is around 20kg so we expect her to reach at least 30kg. We suspect that Misia is a cross between Vizsla and Ridgeback. One thing we know for sure though, is she is a stunning and incredibly resilient creature.
Misia is a genuinely gentle, placid & beautiful, affectionate dog who will reward her forever home with a life time of love and affection, joy & companionship. She will also be the best friend to your resident dog family. She just needs time and persistence.
Misia is currently untested with children or cats, however with slow introductions and training we are sure she would be fine with older kids / dog friendly cats. Younger boisterous children would frighten her. She would definitely suit a home with understanding, committed and patient adults.
Misia is located in Footscray with her loving foster family, which includes, 2 Adults, 1 Dog, 2 chickens & regular visitors & friends.
Misia's adoption fee covers her desexing, microchip, vaccinations, flea & worm treatment.
Medical notes
Misia is a happy, healthy girl: desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm-treated.
To help reduce Misia's anxiety, she is on Gapapentin - an anti anxiety medication to help build her confidence while training & taking on new things in the world. This is only a temporary measure & she will have a medication plan to slowly reduce her medication to eventually no medication, with the advise & instruction of a vet behaviourist :)
