About Piper ~ Beagle x Cattle Dog ~ On Trial 25/6/20
Please read to the end before applying... because looks aren't everything and Piper needs the right match!
This spectacular looking Beagle x Cattle dog is Piper. She is 18 months old and the perfect medium sized adventure buddy at approx 16kg's. Piper not only has incredible looks, but nose to the ground Beagle traits, paired with incredible energy to burn.
Piper is not a lazy person's dog. This girl wants to be on the move all the time. She is ball obsessed, loves to play tug o war and loves the water. The first criteria for placing her will be space to run. Ideally, we'd like to see her on acres, where she can stretch her legs. A secure house yard is a must though, as she has a strong prey drive and will easily clear low fencing or dig under anything loose if she sees something to chase. A larger than normal yard will be considered if she had another dog to play with and her routine included regular exercise outside the home.
Piper wasn't well socialised in her youth and came into rescue quite reactive to other dogs on lead. Her foster carers are doing an amazing job working on this but, she will need continued training to maintain and improve her social skills. Once free to run, she is playing with lots of dogs in the park and loving the company. It's just that no-one taught her good manners as a pup. This means that Piper would be equally happy as an only dog getting all the attention or with a buddy, provided the other dog is good at giving cues and won't let her be bossy.
Piper will absolutely not be rehomed with pocket pets, little dogs or young children. She loves kids, but can be mouthy when she plays. Confident kids over 12 will be fine. She would be in second heaven if she got to do beach walks, hikes and bush trails on a regular basis. She could also make a great agility dog in the right hands. She needs an experienced home, so no first time dog owners, she is just too clever and needs the right training with consistency and confidence.
She hit the doggy jackpot with her current carers, who are paying a trainer and dog walker to help her thrive and be a well balanced dog. Piper is a confident and loving girl with serious potential to make the right family very happy. If you think you can match her zest for life and vigorous energy, please complete the adoption questionnaire online at https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt . We are open to out of area applications if they match her needs. For more information, her Coordinator email is hitthesand@hotmail.com
Piper’s adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped. Piper is currently in care in the Port Stephens area, NSW (north of Newcastle).
