About Ruby
Hi, I'm Ruby and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
Ruby was surrendered to the Shelter with her best friend Frankie, she would love to find a home where she and Frankie can continue to keep each other company.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Happy to live with children
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Other pets other than Frankie
My best features:
• LOVE people, gentle, walks well on the lead
• Happy to hang out with other dogs
• I LOVE toys
• I enjoy going on car rides
• I can sit, shake hands, stay, come
• Housetrained
Where I need to improve / Training required
• Barking - I will bark at strangers until I know they are ok and will bark to alert of any potential 'danger'.
• I'm scared of thunder and firework and will bark and cry until I'm allowed inside. Having a safe place for me inside the house will help with my anxiety.
• I do get anxious around other dogs and when I see them out on a walk. I will offer the freeze/flight/fight response if I feel threatened - desensitization, positive reinforcement and reassurance should help with this
Medical issues:
Ruby has a lump on her right side which has been checked by a vet and it's diagnosed to be a fatty lump which isn't causing her any issues.
ANY EXISTING DOGS AT HOME MUST COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET RUBY BEFORE AN ADOPTION CAN BE APPROVED
