Hi everyone
My name is Mercy, named as such because of the neglect I endured with my breeder. Locked in a 1.5m square pen in the back corner of the yard, my siblings and mum and I lived in our own filth, with a dusty water bucket and not enough food. I was found at 6 months old, very underweight, full of worms and fleas, and had sores all over me. Thankfully, Off The Chain intervened and I got a second chance at life. I was quickly treated for my parasites, put on a premium diet, and moved to another city where I began my life as a loved and healthy doggo.
My carers work 8hr days so I just chill out in the yard, which has a 1.5m fence. I have shown no desire to escape, and just entertain myself with my toys. I don't mind car rides, they're not my favourite but with practice I will love them I am sure. I love to run and jump, and like to pounce on my toys. It is very entertaining to watch! My foster dad says I am 'fast like a rabbit!'.
I know how to sit and lie down, and am mostly house trained- the only issue is sometimes I get soooooo excited (around food usually!) that I do a little wee out of excitement. This is something that will improve and go away with time- very typical of a young dog who hasn't had an appropriate diet in past, so please don't judge me harshly based on that. I will grow out of it.
I am a doggo that once I find my forever home, needs to be part of the family and socialised with lots of humans ASAP to feel happy and confident. When strangers come to my house I get nervous and will yap at them and then run and hide. This is something we can work on and will go away with some training, time and stability. I am always gentle and sweet- I just get scared. I would hate to always be this scared, so am hoping my owners will train me out of this. It isn't very difficult and my foster carers have already begun this.
I like other dogs, and would do well to live with other dog/s. They can help show me how to dog, and what confident doggos do. I haven't yet met cats so would prefer not to live with any. My new home needs to let me sleep inside at night as part of the family. Currently I sleep in the foster carer bedroom on my own bed, and will sometimes sneak up for cuddles in the morning.
I am a girl who had a horrible start and needs someone patient and committed who will work with me to reverse their neglect and the fear it gave me. I will be a brilliant and loyal doggo for the right family and am a total delight to be around. I can't wait to meet my furever after family!
Medical notes
Despite my rough start, I am now a happy and healthy girl! I am on a premium diet (Blackhawk) and should stay on a good biscuit and as with all dogs, have my usual health needs met - regular flea, tick and worming done, vaccines and yearly health checks.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
