About Sherlock
Are you looking for love? Do you need a companion that will share their heart with you?
Sherlock is a big, adora-bull, loving boofhead. At 10 years old and 31kgs he is a mature chunk of a fellow that is just looking for a place to rest his head, preferably on your lap. Sherlock still loves his toys and will happily play and squeak a soft toy. He does get a little too excited around car tyres, so probably not a toy for his old age.
Sherlock lives much of his days just hanging close to the family, and he will give you a boofy tap with his paw if he needs to remind you he is there and ready for pats. We have nicknamed Sherlock “Chewbacca” as he is quite vocal (not barking) and often makes noises straight from this Star Wars character’s vocabulary.
Sherlock does show some anxiety at being left, however we have found that if he has a dog door/free access to inside and outside, he is much more comfortable. He would suit a retired person or home where he is not left for long periods. He is house trained and is happy to call the couch home overnight.
Sherlock is starting to show a bit of his age, with some arthritis and mild hip dysplaysia. He also had a bit of a sore back due to an enlarged prostate. Following desexing, other vet work removing a number of his teeth and cartrophen injections, Sherlock has improved a lot whilst in foster care. Sherlock is not able to go on walks these days, but he does like to have a meander. He has been enjoying investigating the house yard at his foster home.
Sherlock is good on lead and has been ok when on lead around dogs at the vets etc. However he can be protective around his dinner bowl and will be best rehomed as an only dog – his love is really people and he would be happy on his own with plenty of human companionship.
Sherlock is not suitable for a home with young children (he may accidentally knock them with a paw). He also cannot be around cats or other small animals animals.
Sherlock loves to go for a drive in the car with you. Sherlock is a lovely old guy, and if you love bulldogs, you will love this boof. Sherlock is available for adoption to a suitable home in NSW only, not ACT.
