About Dora
Dora is quite an explorer. She's a very active girl who loves to investigate lots of different places. She'll happily climb and play for much of the day but once she's finished her quest she's quite happy to curl up in your lap for cuddles.
Dora is often accompanied by her twin brother Diego, whom she calls to come and play with her. They regularly snuggle together when napping and will even groom each other. They are extremely bonded so will need to be homes together.
Born on Christmas Day, Dora and her siblings are little miracles. They were orphaned at only 3 weeks old so they needed to be bottle fed and hand raised.
Dora can be a little shy at first but once you earn her trust she's a sweet girl who loves belly rubs and plenty of head scratches. She gets along well with other cats as well as children of all ages.
Dora has been raised as an indoor cat with daytime access to a large, secure garden enclosure where she actively plays and "hunts" with Diego. They also share a multi level cat tree plus various interactive toys in their bedroom - which will go with them to their new home. A kitten starter pack with cat essentials such as litterbox, bowls, plates and a selection of food will also be included with their adoption.
Bengal cats are very unique and require a special home. Please read the information below to make sure Dora & Diego are suited to your home and lifestyle.
The Bengal could never be called delicate. They’re athletes: agile and graceful with a strong, muscular body, as befits a cat who looks as if they belong in the jungle.
Despite their wild appearance, Bengal cats are actually quite affectionate with their human families. They also have high energy and a fun-loving, playful side. They want to stay active and need a home that can match their energy.
Bengals are a perfect choice for families with children and cat-friendly dogs. They will play fetch as well as any retriever, learns tricks easily and love the attention they receive from children who treat them politely and with respect. They're smart enough to get out of the way of toddlers but love school-age children because they're a match for a Bengal's energy level and curiosity. Nothing scares them, certainly not dogs, and they will happily make friends with them if they don’t give your Bengal any trouble.
Bengals are highly active and highly intelligent. This makes them fun to live with, but they can sometimes be challenging. Bengals are a confident, talkative, friendly cat who is always alert. Nothing escapes their notice. They like to play games, including fetch and they're quick to learn tricks. Their nimble paws are almost as good as hands and it’s a good thing he doesn’t have opposable thumbs or he would probably rule the world.
A bored Bengal cat can also adopt some unconventional (and slightly destructive) habits, including: turning light switches on and off, opening doors, fishing seals out of drains and excitedly plucking CDs from your DVD player.
Fond of playing in water, the Bengal is not above jumping into the tub or strolling into the shower with you. Aquarium and pond fish may be at risk from their clever paws. They also love to climb and can often be found perching at the highest point they can reach in the home. A tall cat tree or two is a must for this feline, as are puzzle toys that will challenge their intelligence.
On the rare occasions that they aren't swinging on chandeliers or swimming in your pool, the affectionate Bengal will be pleased to sit on your lap. It goes without saying that they will share your bed. And yes, they steal the covers.
It’s a good idea to keep a Bengal as an indoor-only cat to protect them as well as local birds and wildlife from this avid hunter. If possible, build your Bengal a large outdoor enclosure where they can jump and climb safely.
If you can fulfil the Bengal’s need for exercise, you’ll have a smart, loving cat who can keep you on your toes.
