About Ruby
RUBY
This sweet natured couch potato girl needs no introduction. However, don’t be fooled by her large size. She is the gentlest and friendliest doggie you’ll ever meet! Ruby or affectionately called Ruby Duby Doo was surrendered by her previous owners at no fault of her own as they had to leave the country but she has since settled in beautifully with her foster family in no time. Please read Ruby’s full description below carefully before deciding on adopting her and whether she’s right for you and your home.
Ruby’s Temperament
As Ruby is still a young dog, she very much behaves like one and demands attention from her family. She’ll sook and lick you or worst case scenario sit on you until you pat or play with her. She can be quite persistent so it won’t be long at all until you cave in. Besides, who can stand to say no to that cute face and beautiful honey-coloured puppy dog eyes. Ruby tends to go through phases of being hyper active and playful to contently snoozing and napping away, which is what a typical pupper would do. Ruby is currently being fostered with a resident foster dog and has no problems getting along with him or with any other dog as a matter of fact. She becomes overly excited and her playful bark will come out when meeting with other dogs. Ruby is also extremely human friendly and loves saying hello to any and everyone so if you are looking for a guard dog in Ruby, then you are looking at the wrong dog as she’s very much the exact opposite. One of Ruby’s quirks is her stubbornness and her ability to ignore the word “no”. However, consistency and persistence is the key when it comes to Ruby. Ruby has been trained to sit, stay, wait for her food and go to bed. Ruby is also toilet trained and will let you know if she needs to go. She has not had an accident apart from the first time she came into her foster family and will patiently wait till you let her out. A doggie door is recommended if possible so she can easily let herself in and out. Other than that, Ruby has the loveliest nature and is mostly a happy and quiet girl.
Ruby’s Physique
Being an American Bulldog x , Ruby is on the larger size thanks to her long lanky supermodel legs and Ruby may grow some more being only at 15 months old. However, she very much thinks she’s a cat, behaves like one and has the worst sense of size awareness especially when it comes to her own. She loves jumping onto couches and beds without a care in the world. You’ll often find her napping away on your couch and bed more than in her own bed. Because of her larger than life size and boisterous nature, it is highly recommended that she doesn't go to a family with small dogs or children as they can be intimidated by her even though she does not have a single bad bone in her. Ruby has previously had a golden retriever as her playmate so a dog of a similar size preferably large would suit Ruby more appropriately if she’s going to a home with an existing dog. Ruby would also suit being the only dog in the family. Ruby has experience with young and older kids but again because of her size, a family with a baby or young children will not suit her only because she loves her hoomans way too much and will lick them to death, not because of aggression. This is evident with her 5 year old human foster brother, where she tends to lick and overpowers him with her love as well as jumping on his bed whilst he’s sleeping. A baby or a child will be no different to her as love is love in Ruby’s eyes. She does not discriminate and only has unlimited love to give. Ruby fur also tends to shed and it's just another way of showing her love.
