About Cilla
Cilla is lazy, even for a greyhound. In foster care, she has definitely shown her preference for the horizontal life preferring to walk particularly slowly. She does occasionally have a playful burst of energy, playing with toys and running about.
Cilla definitely enjoys human company and is just like a little shadow, looking for any opportunity to pop her head on your lap for some ear scratches! This can become a bit like a comedy show, as she hasn’t quite learnt her size yet and is a bit clumsy.
Cilla is perfect on the lead - she waits patiently for her coat to be put on and walks next to her human (and sometimes behind!) with no pulling. If something catches her interest, Cilla responds to a polite command to settle.
Cilla has not been properly tested with other dogs, only experiencing these on walks. At these times, she has not paid much interest at all.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
