Hey everyone, my name is Winnie!
I am a lovely stag x girl who was surrendered to OTC care when my owner couldn't afford to keep taking care of me and had to move back home. I have been an absolute pleasure since arriving into care and it will be really hard for my carers to let me go!
I currently live with a small breed dog who is my bestie, and I have also been around other medium to large breeds. I get along great with other dogs, and love all humans too. I sleep inside at night on my bed, and am picking up crate training too! As you can see, I am not the most graceful sleeper... it provides a lot of laughs. I currently weigh 25kg and am fully grown. I know shake, sit, drop, outside, and wait. I live in a house in Brisbane currently and also visit the family farm on weekends and live is so much fun in both places!
I am home alone with just a dog for company, between 6-12hrs a day, 3-4 days a week. So I will be fine with full time workers we think, as long as I get to come inside and be part of the family when you're home! I need to live behind a 6ft fence and love to have a kennel to sleep in. I have met cats, chickens, horses and cows and was ok with them and was supervised at all times. If you want me to live with cats, that's ok I just need to be supervised as I do get interested in them. If they're a confident cat who will tell me to go away, then we should be fine.
I love car rides and usually end up just falling asleep. My favourite thing to do is play with other dogs and go swimming- I LOVE other dogs! Toys don't really seem to interest me! So it would be ideal if I had another doggy friend to live with, or at least could go out to meet some a few times a week.
I do get scared at sudden loud noises, and will take myself to my kennel or crate to hide. It's my safe place. I can be a bit scared of men when I first meet them- I am always gentle, but it just takes me a bit to trust them. I'll warm up pretty quickly if they come with treats though!
Overall I am a fun, loving and cuddly girl who is going to make a great addition to any family. I can't wait to meet you and show you how gorgeous I am!

Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All dogs must be collected by the adopting families, from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
