About Deano - gorgeous gentle giant
Deano is a curious and gentle sweetheart. He’s a BIG foodie, and loves to play chase and fetch.
Like most hounds, he likes company so his perfect home will be with someone who is home most of the time, or with another large dog for a pal. Despite their status as so-called "athletes", greyhounds are generally big, lazy, gentle giants; and Deano is no exception. A walk every day and some play time is ample exercise, and a small yard is fine. You wouldn't know it by their size, but greys are the PERFECT pup for a small home or unit, or anyone wanting a calm and quiet buddy without too much energy and who won't upset the neighbours barking, etc. Greys rarely bark unless there is something wrong.
Deano is still learning about the world outside of racing and gets very excited around small and fast dogs so keeping vigilant is key for having a pleasant walk! This is pretty normal for dogs who have raced and with practice, patience and a bit of training (we can help with ideas on this) we are confident this will settle in time. Small animals, such as cats and rabbits, however, are likely to be just toooooo exciting not to chase, and this is not something easily "trained out" of a big boy like this, so he is definitely seeking a home with no cats or small furries.
Other than the excitement mentioned above, he walks perfectly on lead otherwise, and like most greyhounds, (as you will see by the photo's) he is happy to spend most of his day snoozing/lazing around in a comfy spot, preferably with his human close by.
He’s a bit cheeky and likes to misplace things, so keep your valuables in a safe place overnight! He’s not a fan of loud or intimidating noises, so patient and gentle people are a must. He’s a super softie and deserves a forever home full of love and snuggles.

Sunny Days began in 2017 and runs a self funded rehab shelter for stray cats in Lara, halfway between Melbourne and Geelong, Victoria. 90% of the animals rehomed through Sunny Days are rescued and rehabilitated ‘true stray’ cats; cats who’ve grown up wild, with very little or no experience with humans. To our knowledge there is no other rescue group or shelter in Australia specialising solely in the medical and psychological rehabilitation of stray and feral cats.
Our aim is to rescue, humanely rehabilitate and appropriately rehome cats and kittens who would otherwise be ignored, hit by cars, baited, euthanised or die alone of illness or hunger. We see each cat as an individual, requiring it's own individualised rehoming program and the right type of home for their level of rehab and temperament. We also provide support to local cat owners who require assistance to desex and provide a safe home for their cat, and actively work with the community, vet clinics and other industry professionals to decrease the stray cat problem.

Our shelter runs at a loss due to the type of animals we take in - terrified cats who need months if not years of care, and often hundreds more in medical treatment than we can adopt them out for. Shelter running costs are about $1600 p/month. We fund this excess out of our own pockets because we believe the cats deserve a chance.
