About Nero
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Please don't apply unless your situation meets Nero's needs.
Hi there, my name is Nero and I'm looking for my forever home. Could yours be it?
At 12 years of age, I am a bit set in my ways.
I DON'T like cats at all and children can be a bit rough for my liking.
I would prefer to be the only dog in your household so I can give you my undivided attention and get totally spoilt by you.
I do get along with other dogs but will keep to myself.
I'm not a real 'kissy' type of dog and wont jump onto your lap but I love to be with you all the time and prefer to have someone at home with me all day.
Snuggles at your side are a priority for me and head, back and bum rubs are a must.
I can be a bit timid at first but once I feel at home, I strut around the house as if I own it.
I like short walks and to play games with you but I can get a bit out of breath as I have a heart issue. It is managed well by medication.
I'm very well trained and will use pee pads or toilet outside.
I love my food but know when I've eaten enough and stop.
I have been with my foster family for quite some time but am now ready to find my Happily Ever After.
Medical notes
Nero is currently on two types of medication for his grade 4 heart murmur. He takes 0.21ml of Vetmedin Oral Solution (3.5mg) twice daily and a quarter tablet of Frusemide (20mg) twice daily. His heart murmur has been stable since being on these meds. This medication can be purchased through your vet, or you may be able to get a prescription from your vet (dispensing fees may apply) and order it online. The cost works out to be approximately $2 per day if purchased online.
He has recently had a dental scale and polish and had about 8 teeth removed, he still has 14 teeth remaining which is quite common for a senior dog. He takes Osteocare Joint Support supplement to help keep his legs healthy as he ages - he does have mild bilateral patella luxation, but not a good candidate for surgery due to heart and age.
Nero is up to date with his C5 vaccination as well as heart worm, intestinal worm, flea and tick prevention.
