About Emmy. Melbourne
Emmy is a stunning girl, who is mostly white, with black spots and the cutest little black ears. She loves a cuddle and will lean on you, gazing at you with her gorgeous eyes until you have been hypnotised into forever giving her pats. Emmy truly loves humans and is ready to melt your heart.
Emmy is incredibly energetic and requires a lot of stimulation. She is crazy about toys and loves long walks – she is definitely suited to a house with a backyard with space for her to wear herself out.
Emmy can become quite boisterous and loud when playing and although she gets along with her foster grey sibling, she would be okay as an only dog. Any future canine siblings would need to be an active, larger dog who shares her love of play.
Emmy is not small dog, small child or cat friendly at this stage.
Emmy requires a home where her forever humans are willing and able to work on reactivity to other dogs, especially when out walking.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
