About Marty. Melbourne
With a face full of love, a soft bare belly ready for patting and a bunch of cuddles in storage ready to hand out, we just know it won’t take long for this gorgeous boy to find his forever home.
In fact, Marty’s foster carer says it has been incredibly difficult not to foster fail – he is 100% relaxed, great with people and doesn’t mind some alone time. Marty is great on the lead and will go wherever his human leads him. He doesn’t mind loud noises or sudden movements and hasn’t barked once in foster care. Marty even loves a sleep in, which is a bonus for his humans.
Marty is a cuddle monster, and his favourite place is tucked up in a little croissant next to you. He's happy to snooze the day away but when he knows it’s time for a walk, his energy levels kick in and he can’t help but wiggle his rump in excitement! Occasionally he has a spurt of energy throughout the day, where he will pick some toys to bring to bed with him.
Marty has passed the small human test and is incredibly patient and gentle. When meeting other greys, he has also been quite gentle. He has only seen other breeds of dog from a distance but has not shown any aggressive behaviours.
Marty has not been small dog or cat tested so no cat or small dog applications please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
