About Willow
PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION (NOT PETRESCUE ENQUIRY) IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET OR ADOPT WILLOW. PLEASE READ PROFILE IN ITS ENTIRETY.
Willow is a beautiful, energetic Kelpie, approximately one year old, with lots of potential. Prior to arriving in foster care, Willow had not spent much (if any) time outside her own backyard. Following some intense training with her fabulous foster carers, Willow has absolutely blossomed HOWEVER she is not a dog for the fainthearted.
Willow is a very clever girl. She is a joy to train with obedience exercises and is very quick to pick up new things. Her obedience skills are great, she walks fantastically on the lead and is crate trained. She has been to sheep herding training for city dogs and has lots of potential to have some fun on the weekends with her new owner; it would be an excellent activity to get in to for both Willow and her owner and something we highly recommend. Whilst she enjoys doing crazy zoomies and is very active, she has also learnt to switch off for quiet time.
Willow is social with other well behaved dogs in a controlled environment but we wouldn’t recommend she live with another dog. She is not the type of dog who can be taken to a dog park or off lead area as she becomes over-stimulated. She is fine with meeting other calm dogs on lead. She has been around a confident cat who is used to large dogs, and was well behaved but needs to be closely supervised.
Willow is excellent with all people and is a real cuddle bug. She loves cozying up on the couch with her people after a long day and is a wonderful companion. She would be better suited to a home with no kids or older kids/teenagers. Her ideal person/people will be active, have a desire to further her obedience in a formal setting, participate in dog sports with her and keep her mind and body active with daily exercise and mental stimulation. Willow is still very young, and may not be fully matured for a few years more, so her new people will need to keep this in mind and be prepared.
Medical notes
Upon examination by our vet, Willow was found to have mild flattening and loosening on palpation of the right hip. At this stage she is showing no symptoms of lameness or discomfort. Her future home will need to monitor her, keep her weight under control, and be aware of potential issues in the future.
