About Henry the 8th

Henry
Background
Henry was reluctantly surrendered by his previous family due to being 'dog aggressive'. When younger, he was attacked by another dog and started showing these reactive signs since. Whilst his foster carers haven't experienced anything too concerning, other than a couple of reactions on his walks (see below), he will need to be an only dog home and should not be taken to dog parks. With time and training, Henry has shown the potential that he can be walked with some other dogs (focus on desexed, submissive females first) and potentially socialised with some - but this would be a slow process and not guaranteed.
Temperament
The handsome Henry is just the happiest boy going around. Constantly wagging his tail this boy puts a smile on the face of everyone he meets.
Henry absolutely adores people and being around them. If you're moving around the house, he will be your shadow and is very curious/thinks he is assisting when it comes to packing the dishwasher, gardening or any other house chores (he is not phased by lawnmowers, vacuums etc). Once you are settled on the couch, Henry is more than happy to lay on his bed or take himself outside for a bit of sunshine. He would absolutely love to be a lap dog if you allow him to and although happy on his mat/bed, would most likely prefer to be up on the couch cuddling with you. This boy is SUPER affectionate and just the sweetest people pleaser.
He will need to be an inside/outside dog as even though he is highly active, he is also a fantastic family dog and will need to be included in the family life.
Henry may have been taught to 'hug' from his previous home as when you are sitting down, he does like to climb up and put his front paws on your shoulders for a big cuddle. We have been discouraging this as we wanted him to learn manners for his future forever home. He can paw at you when he is trying to suggest a cuddle - sometimes he is content if you just hold his paw though.
Henry is fantastic with children of all ages, but given his size and affectionate personality (the hugging) he would be best suited to a home with older children - we would hate for his happy tail to knock a small child over!
Henry will occasionally give out a loud bark or two if something startles him, but he responds to you instantly as soon as you tell him 'no'.
As he has had 24/7 company during his foster time, he has become quite attached and recently started to develop some whining and howling habits when left home alone for short periods of time. By the time I return, he has stopped and with his new family and a new routine e.g. 9 - 5 workday, he should adapt and discontinue.
Overall, Henry is a fantastic and loving boy who is very well behaved and has a lot of potential with further training and work on his 'dog reactive' behaviour and behaviour around cars (see below). This breed is incredibly smart and responds well to firm commands and consistent obedience training. Henry will need a family who have experience with large breed dogs, physically strong and willing to put in the time for his high energy levels and offer consistent training. Someone who has previously owned a working dog would suit well.
Eating
Currently, on a dry food only diet, Henry is being fed at breakfast and dinner. He loves his food and there is never a concern whether he will finish his meals. When it comes to mealtime, Henry knows to 'sit' and 'wait' until his bowl is placed on the ground and he is told 'ok!'. I have trialled him for any food aggression/possessive behaviour while he is eating and he hasn't s
