About š»Nelsonš»
**To apply to adopt Nelson, please complete in full the adoption questionnaire here - http://squishiesrescue.org.au/adoption-application/application-flat-faced-dog/
Please note, as indicated in his profile, Nelson is not accepting interstate applications, he is looking for a home where yard checks and meets can be done with his foster carer.
We know thereās a lot of information here and Nelsonās cuteness is terribly distracting, but please be sure to properly read his profile before applying! Applications that clearly demonstrate that his profile/the above information has not been read and understood will not be considered.**
Heartbreakingly, Nelson is the absolute definition of a dog who has been let down by his humans, time & time again. In the six and a half years he has been on this earth, not one person has taken the time to teach him basic manners, boundaries or give him a true home.
Nelson will need humans who have the time to teach him basic skills; including sit, stay and recall. He has all the love in the world to give, and is slowly figuring out how he shows that love. Jumping and running in circles is his favourite, but with his foster family he is learning that cuddles are a great way to show love too!
Nelson is a very vocal dog; he loves to chat to the neighbours dog through the fence and let everyone that walks past his house know he is there. His foster family are trying to show him that chatting isnāt always the best, and his new family will need to continue that, but the reality is that being a terrier, heās likely always going to like sharing his opinion!
He is currently in foster care with two doggy sisters. While he can enjoy playing with them, he isnāt fazed if they are around or not, so it isnāt crucial that his forever home has other dogs. Nelson has met a cat and while he was very excitable, there was absolutely no sign of aggression, but of course any introductions would need to be gradual.
Nelson loves a walk! He is so eager that he can pull on the lead, but with a halti on he walks very well and loves it just as much!
Nelson has been blessed with the most beautiful coat, and loses basically no hair - his foster mum couldnāt be happier about this and sneaks him into her bed for morning cuddles when she can! ??
This beautiful boy doesnāt mind being on his own, he likes outside time, as until recently this is all he knew and while heās working his way towards his foster mumās bed, he currently sleeps in an enclosed back porch, as he eases himself into treasured indoor pet life!
While in care, Nelson has experienced lots of firsts and we have discovered amongst other things, he's a great traveler and he loves the beach!
While every dog needs the perfect home, our search for Nelsonās forever home will be very particular because of how many times he has already been letdown. We want only the best for this boy, as he deserves.
