About Pira
Pira is a beautiful snuggle bug who is looking for a retirement home where she can get spoilt to make up for lost time. When Pira came into care she was very scared, overweight, had severely fly bitten ears with deep wounds and irritated skin. She is a different dog now and has slotted very easily into her foster home.
Pira is an extremely loyal little dog who bonds strongly with her owner, as seen with her connection to her foster carer. She is shy with new people but with some simple steps she will transfer her bond to her new owners in a matter of days. While this happens, she just needs some patience and understanding – oh and treats please!
Once bonded with you she is like your shadow. She just loves to follow you everywhere and gives the best cuddles. Pira also loves to get under the blankets to get warm on the lounge or in the bed. She makes a wonderful hot water bottle for your feet but does feel the cold so needs blankets and coats.
Pira is a very good-natured dog who cohabits with other animals very well. She is currently living with 3 dogs and a cat and has met and walked with a range of other dogs. Pira does require a home with another friendly dog for companionship as she has always lived with other dogs and does not like to be left completely by herself if you go out. She loves her walks and barks with excitement when it is time to go. She moves exceptionally well for her age and has no issue going for significant daily walks (30-60mins) on lead. Pira wears a harness when walking as she does pull a little bit but due to her size, she is not particularly strong.
After coming from a home where she lived as an outside dog, she has been remarkably toilet trained. There has been some accidents and you do need to be diligent with taking her out at key times or leaving the door open for her. She can sit for a treat and is learning to take them gently. Pira travels ok in the car – she gets a bit anxious but not car sick. She has gotten a clean bill of health from the vets except for a heart murmur which is not yet causing any symptoms or requiring medication.
We are looking for an experienced home for Pira where she will be a loved and spoilt member of the family. She must have another friendly dog for company, and it is preferable that her owners are home more often than not as she truly does love the company of her owner. We are seeking a quieter indoor home with access to a secure yard for toileting. She is not suited for unit/apartment living or dense housing due to her barking when excited (when you come home or are taking her for a walk). She is fine with children, but we are looking for a quieter home without them or only older ones.
Whatever love you give to Pira she will give back 10-fold. She is truly a beautiful soul.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
