About The Boss
The Boss. Big, beautiful and boisterous.
Rottweiler
The Boss. Big, beautiful and boisterous.
The Boss is a friendly, playful, affectionate and headstrong Rottweiler pup. He requires a large yard with very secure fences and a strong, consistent and patient owner devoted to his ongoing training. He is happy to spend most of the day outside as long as he has daily exercise and regular playtime with his human(s). If you are devoted to his training, this loving boy will reward you with years of fun and loyalty.
The Boss will ‘mouth’, nip and jump up, especially when he is excited. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone, he simply does not realise his own strength and needs to learn some boundaries. For these reasons the Boss is not currently suited to a household with children under 15 years or frail household members. With time and practice he is learning that lots of praise, pats, cuddles and treats come his way when he is gentle.
He needs a firm, patient and loving owner, preferably with Rottweiller experience and someone committed to his ongoing exercise and training. When excited the Boss can grab at anything within his reach including clothing, the lead, an arm, a leg or a buttock. He is currently introduced to people on lead and knows the commands ‘gentle’, ‘sit’ and ‘give’. He will settle if appropriately managed and is learning to “mouth” balls and toys rather than people. His manners are improving and the need for a commitment to his ongoing training cannot be overstated.
This lovely boy is generally very good on the lead however he is very strong and pulls when he sees another dog and wants to play. He requires a strong owner to teach him that he doesn’t have to jump on every dog he sees. He is a head-strong character who plays very rough and will not back down when he’s told to by other dogs. This has the potential for injuries so he is best suited as a single dog. He is also not suited to cats or other small animals.
This 30kg ‘puppy’ is a strong-willed lap dog and wants to be touching his humans and with them as often as possible. He loves balls, squeaky toys, cuddles, and investigating garden smells. He has a degree of separation anxiety when his humans leave home without him, however this is likely to be overcome if he is left with appropriate toys and fencing.
The Boss likes to investigate everything when he’s inside the house and he is generally well behaved. In a calm environment he can sit inside on his cushion for an hour or two and he has had some crate training. He has had increasing amounts of time inside with his foster family as he has learnt to sit on his bed and stay calm, but if his human moves, he will follow. He is an “access all areas” sort of companion. He seems to be toilet trained although he has never been left unsupervised inside.
The Boss is intelligent and becomes bored easily. He loves jumping up on chairs, logs and hay bales and would probably love agility classes. He responds very well to food rewards and praise. He is still young and an investment in his training will reward you with years of loyalty and fun. If you think you are the right human for this beautiful, big, boisterous boy,
