About Blaze
Blaze is a loving, calm girl and has an inquisitive nature. She has adapted well to life in foster care, is a quick, willing learner and listens well to her foster parents. Since Blaze has become familiar with her routine, she has blossomed into a playful, polite young lady (and will let you know if its walk or food time!).
Blaze loves to go on long walks and loves doing zoomies in the back yard, before collapsing in a heap for a snooze! She is always up for an adventure with her humans, but equally happy to lounge about.
Whilst she gets along well with her large-breed Blaze tends to like people over dogs. She gets along well with her large-breed foster sister, but it takes a lot for her to be comfortable with dogs she doesn’t know. She particularly doesn’t like small dogs. She would be fine as a solo dog.
Blaze loves shoes and cushions and treats them a bit like her toys, playing with them but not chewing. She has learnt how to climb up stairs with the support of her foster sister, but she is still learning to go back down, often needing to be carried back down by her foster parents. She is excellent on the lead, and hasn’t complained so far when left alone for short periods of time.
Blaze has not been tested with young children or cats. She is tolerant of familiar dogs, but can be reactive with dogs she doesn’t know. No small dog or cat applications.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
