About Darcy
Darcy’s foster parents say that since he arrived, he has had them in stitched every day. He is a quirky pup who loves to chat and will bring you a toy when he wants to play. Darcy will even throw toys around for himself! He loves checking himself out in the mirror and will make a bed out of anything, even his humans laundry pile.
Darcy is a big fan of walks, and often enjoys going for a run in his sleep, upside down and tongue out. He goes for two walks a day and is incredibly playful. Darcy loves going for car rides and travels very well in the backseat.
Darcy’s separation anxiety has improved since joining his foster home, however he will need a home who are willing to work on this. He is still learning to walk beside his human without zig zagging and when he is not getting the attention he wants, he may cheekily find something to chew on that he shouldn’t. Darcy responds well to ‘no’ in this situation.
Darcy seems to be a bit of an all-rounder – He loves meeting new people and other dogs. Darcy would be happy as an only dog, soaking up all the affection of his forever human/s, but his gentle nature with dogs when out on his walks is a good indicator he’d be happy with a canine sibling.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
