This brother & sister bonded pair were surrendered because they were constantly digging their way out of the yard. A thorough yard check and blocking off digging access points later, these guys have now lost the desire to find escape routes. We think it’s also something to do with the fact that life is now pretty sweet with couch cuddles, daily walks and lots of love!
Townie: MC 981020005512962
First thing you need to know about her is that she has something called ‘luxating patella’ on both her hind legs. Basically, that’s just a fancy way of saying she has dodgy knees. This has not been causing her any discomfort and the vet can’t feel any effects of arthritis as a result at this stage, but she may need to have surgery to correct this at some point in her life if it does get worse.
Townie also has sensitive skin, and this will need to be monitored because at this stage, we don’t know what is causing her flare ups. Since coming into care, she has had a course of medications to help get her skin back to normal, and she may have ongoing skin issues in future. It is currently being managed at the moment.
Townie loves her walks and her favourite thing to do is snuggle up next to you on the couch.
Whacky: MC 981020005477631
He too has luxating patellas, and although they are classified a lower grade of severity than his sisters, this will also need to be monitored and surgery may also be required in future if symptoms arise.
Whacky has a super cute smile with an underbite and is a bit special with a few too many teeth in his mouth than he should have! Again, something that’s not affecting him at this stage, but may need an extraction or two later in life.
Whacky’s toilet training is coming along. He initially wanted to mark everything with his urine when he first came into care, and will most likely be like this when he is exposed to a new environment. He needs someone who will be patient with him and have the time to watch and catch him in the act to help with this situation.
They like to bark and chase the birds that land in the backyard, and if they see a cat, it’s game on! Definitely a home without a cat is going to suit this pair. They have proven to be good with young kids, but wouldn’t make great playing companions as they prefer the quiet life.
We would love to see this pair find a home that is willing to dig-proof the yard, be compliant and attentive with their ongoing health care, give them a daily walk and be allowed to snuggle with or without you on the furniture.
