About Lucifer -Urgent! -Desexed and Vaccinated
Lucifer needs your help!!!!
poor lucifer is a born and bred wild rabbit. He was somehow trapped and taken to the pound, there he escaped euthanasia by some miracle. We did not find out his personality until he arrived, and in all honesty would probably not have saved him either had we known just how scared of humans he is. Lucifer is not a pet bunny. He does not bite, however scratches and is terrified of humans. Lucifer really needs to find a home that is willing to accept him for what he is. A secure and large enclosure is a must, for his own protection. If someone wanted a challenge, lucifer could be rehabilitated with a lot of time and patience. But he will never be suitable for young children. We need everyone's help to save lucifer. Because of an undescended testicle, he will need to be desexed to prevent the high risk of cancer. Any donations to help cover this cost, or ongoing help with his upkeep would be greatly appreciated. Even better would be someone willing to give lucifer a home. We have so far been a no-kill shelter. We really don't wish to change this, however have to face reality. That is why we are asking for your help. Monetary donations will ensure lucifer has a chance at life, but a home will ensure he has a future. Update 29. 11. 10: well. . . What can i say, a few months in rescue with lots of patience and kind words makes a world of difference. Luci is a new bunny, probably one of the most affectionate buns here. He races over for pats and would rather snuggle up to your hand than eat treats. He doesn't like to be picked up, so is learning quickly to jump into a fabric igloo on command incase we have to move him. This boy needs lots of stimulation as he is very smart, and a large enclosure which he can make his territory. He doesn't like other bunnies (may be allright with a female, but he is quite happy just to have human companions). Because of his nature, he still needs someone who will continue reinforcing his trust every day, as he could revert back to his old nature if left alone and forgotten. For this reason, he would do well living in a room of a house, or a large outdoor aviary/enclosure. This boy has come so far, and it is safe to say that none of us could see him put down. It would still be lovely if he could get a home for christmas. For information about donating, please visit our website or send us an e-mail. ***thank you to bec, kathie, richard & lai and katy for your generous donation towards lucifer's vet costs!***
Medical notes
Vaccinated -please note that due to the release of calici virus on march the 1st, 2010, all bunnies adopted from us will be vaccinated. Please allow for an increase in the adoption fee to cover this large expense. Desexing normally costs anywhere from $100-$360. Vaccinations are from $40-80 (costs differ between vet clinics). Therefore please don't try to haggle the price of the animal for adoption. If you can't afford the adoption fee, you certainly wont afford the ongoing costs associated with animals
