About Alice. Melbourne
Our Alice is a laid back gal and likes to take life slow. While she does enjoy a walk or two, she doesn’t require a lengthy one. She prefers to walk off the beaten track, because loud main roads can be a little too noisy. Don’t let her salt and peppered snoot fool you, she sure is loving and gentle, but also has a cheeky side!
Alice has learnt a lot since joining her foster family and her confidence is increasing every day! She is curious rather than afraid of other dogs, loves chowing down at dinner time and is flexing her cheeky side, trying to join her humans in bed.
Speaking of, Alice loves her humans, so much so she doesn’t really like it when they leave. Her ideal home will be one where someone is home a lot of the time, or where she has a canine companion. Alice’s ideal forever home will be with humans who are willing to put some work into helping her with this.
Due to the current social distancing restrictions, Alice hasn’t had the usual exposure to small dogs. No small dog or cat applications please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
