About Pablo
*In foster care in Rozelle, Sydney*
Pablo doesn’t just look cute, he’s got a massive personality & is a real presence in the house. Whatever his foster carers are doing, he wants to join in & be the centre of attention! He loves sitting on laptops & thinks he gets first dibs on whatever food smells good! He loves going for walks, climbing trees, chasing skinks & chewing on sticks on his walks. Pablo can also be super affectionate when he’s tired from a long day of walks and play!
Pablo is a beautiful boy who experienced a hard life on the street, & as a result contracted FIV. As a FIV+ cat, Pablo will need to live an indoor only life (except for walks on his leash). Most FIV+ cats will live a long and healthy life, but any new adopter needs to be aware that FIV+ cats will require someone who is understanding of their condition and happy to take on a cat that may have additional medical care needs than a cat without FIV. Check out Pablo’s Instagram – pablos_penitentiary – for a little peek into what life is like with Pablo!
Like all Maggie's pets, Pablo is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be the perfect mixture of relaxed & playful. Although I spend a lot of the day napping in the sun, I also have lots of energy and I love exploring, so I need a person/family who is willing to spend dedicated time each day playing with me, and I need a home where someone is home for a good part of each day. I require a large home (ideally a house) with access to a garden – my favourite part of the day is when my foster carer takes me outside on a harness. However, if I run into people or dogs I don’t know when I’m on the leash I panic, so it is best if I can be walked in a large backyard where there is plenty of dirt to dig in and trees to climb. Ideally, I love going on several walks of at least half an hour each day. Alternatively, if my human/s can make sure their yard is escape-proof I would love the freedom to roam in it as I please. Because of my FIV+ status, I would be best going to a home with experienced cat owners.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I am full of energetic beans. I will need a home where my human/s are willing to dedicate time each day to playing with me. If I don’t get to work out my energy through play, then I have been known to playfully attack my human’s arms and legs. I really like wrestling with my carers but I can get over-excited & become too rough. This isn’t an issue, but I am a strong cat so I will need someone who is fine with rough play. I also love exploring, so if I don’t get my outside time on my leash every day, I get bored & can become unsettled, meowing around the house at night or becoming destructive out of frustration. If I’ve had my time exploring, however, I’ll curl up happily in the crook of my foster carers arm & purr all night long!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I am not suited to young children as they can be a bit too much for me! I need space to check people out before I want pats, & if people don’t respect this I sometimes nip out of frustration. I can also play rough, which is not suitable for young children. However I would be suited to older children/teenagers who respect my boundaries & can take me on my walks!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I have met another cat through a flyscreen door and I was very curious and relaxed. I have met dogs on my walks which can be a bit scary (so the humans just take me for walks in the garden), however if I have slow introductions to a dog in the safety of my own home, I think I would be fine. Because I have lots of energy and don't really like to be alone, I think I would love the company of another furry sibling!
Medical notes
Pablo is a FIV+ cat - please see Pet Profile for more information. We also encourage anyone considering adopting a FIV+ cat to read up more about the virus - https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus
The major route of FIV transmission to other cats is by the deep bite wounds that occur mostly between un-neutered males that are fighting over territory and mates. Isolation of an FIV+ cat is not necessary in a stable household where fights between cats are not occuring.
FIV cannot be passed to dogs.
Feel free to check out other social media pages like https://www.instagram.com/coleandmarmalade/ to see how FIV positive and FIV negative cats can live together in purrfect healthy harmony with no transmission between cats :-)

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
