About Jess
Hi there, I'm Jess! Very pleased to meet you.
I'm a super gorgeous girl looking for a very particular family to call my own so please read my profile in detail before enquiring about me.
I've been told that there are not a lot of golden retrievers up for adoption and that we're quite a 'desirable' breed, which makes me feel very special! But it's important that you don't choose me just because of my breed.
So for most of my life I had one home. I lived with another medium sized dog there and also a cat. We were cared for and never badly treated, but we spent a lot of time in the backyard and never got a whole lot of socialising.
Then my owner decided to move house and I couldn't go along so I was surrendered to the rangers for rehoming.
As you can imagine, that was pretty stressful!
I've been staying with a family who love me very much, but unfortunately I can't stay with them forever so now I'm looking for a perfect home for the rest of my days.
So here's the thing to know about me - I really, really don't relate well to smaller breed dogs. I've been happily living with another golden retriever in the home I'm in at the moment, but to be honest I think I would like to be the only dog in my home.
Sometimes when I meet new dogs, I can be quite unsure of them. I recently had an altercation with a smaller dog - I just really can't stand those little guys! I know it's not nice of me but sometimes I can't stay in control of myself.
So it's really, really important that my new family is willing to understand the importance of keeping everyone safe by only walking me in quiet, secluded places and not taking me to spots like dog parks or beaches.
A peaceful loving home with lots of snuggles and togetherness with my people - that's a big tick!
A family who is active and busy and wants to take their dog everywhere - sadly, that's not for me.
Although I'm not fond of small dogs, cats aren't an issue for me. (I'm not stupid - I know the difference between a cat and a dog!)
So if you have a feline friend at home that's fine.
Oh and I'm absolutely gorgeous with people. Utterly divine. I've even done some special training to help me be a support pooch for people experiencing stress and anxiety. I love people of all ages.
If you think you can offer me the perfect home, please enquire today. I can't wait to meet you!
