About Marley SUA005200
Marley is a special girl looking for her own special home. This stunning girl is a delight to be around, she is friendly, affectionate and loving.
Marley needs a home that understands the issues that may come with a white cat, they are more prone to skin cancers and white cats with blue eyes are often deaf. Marley has issues with her hearing, we do not believe she is 100% deaf, she does seems to have minimal hearing. As with some hearing impaired people she can hear some sounds but not others.
Marley’s home must be indoors only to protect her from the sun and also from predators.
MARLEY'S ADOPTION IS BY APPLICATION ONLY
About living with a deaf cat.
White deaf cats will generally cope quite well, but it’s important to help them avoid potential hazards.
White cats are often deaf from birth due to their genetics, particularly those with blue eyes. The condition is associated with their blue irises and white cats with mixed-coloured eyes are often found to be deaf only on the blue-eyed side.
First and foremost, she should be kept as indoor only.
Maintaining consistency is paramount in helping her live a happy and healthy life. Here are some tips to help you get started:
Avoid situations that could be dangerous. For example, don’t allow her to roam outside, near lawnmowers or barking dogs.
Replace voice commands with hand signals.
Encourage her to make eye contact with you by offering her a treat whenever she does.
Use vibration, such as stomping your foot or clapping your hands, so she knows you are nearby.
Keep her away from unknown animals. A deaf cat won’t be able to hear their hissing or threats.
With the ever-evolving and challenging COVID-19 situation we have made the decision to introduce “Adoption by Appointment Only” To make an appointment please complete an online application via the attached link

Adoption details
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend!
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
