IMPORTANT NOTICE
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING FOR A DOG
We are very concerned about the health of our volunteers and their families.
To protect them, we require you to read the following and answer honestly before any meet and greets can be organised.
IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS
Any of these symptoms, or any family member displaying, we ask you to wait before applying for a dog -
* Coughing or sneezing
* runny or blocked nose
* shortness of breath
* high temperature or fever
* sore throat
* aches or pains
* other flu like symptoms
If you have returned from overseas or been on a cruise anywhere in the world, please do not apply within 2 weeks of your return to Australia.
If you are in self isolation, please do not apply, you need to stay at home.
Thank you for valuing our carers health, knowing that a false declaration will endanger them and any future animals that we would be unable to help.

Cupcake is your typical blue heeler - devoted, intelligent, active and protective.
Cupcake enjoys rounding up (and nipping) the resident dog and would likely round up and nip children so would do best as an only dog in an active, animal free, adult home.
Before expressing any interest, please research the breed. Australian Cattle Dogs/Heelers need a job. Whether that be agility, obedience, or some other enrichment activity. Those with breed experience are encouraged to apply as Heelers are not for the inexperienced dog owner.
Cupcake can be timid in new environments but generally gets used to her surroundings quickly with slow introduction. Ideally, she will have lots of human company during the day as she doesn’t like being left alone for long periods. She’s not an escapee but will whine for you.
She has some hilarious quirks such as running between your legs when excited, flipping her food bowl to let you know she’s finished eating and she loves water so will dunk her whole head in the water bucket to gain maximum hydration.
Cupcake will need to attend obedience classes to channel her smarts in the right way as it is clear she hasn’t had a lot of time spent on her. Due to this lack of early socialisation, Cupcake displays some fear-based reactivity towards dogs. She is not a dog which can be taken to a dog park. She can make doggy friends (as she lives with a dog in foster care) however needs very slow, careful introductions.
