About Buster. Melbourne
Buster is a brave boy who has taken pet life in his stride. Loud noises from busy streets, trams, lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners don’t bother him one bit. In fact, he loves having two walks a day, enjoying a longer one in the morning to work off some of the energy his long rest has restored!
Buster is very affectionate and would happily sit alongside his human, providing his gorgeous head for pats. He knows you want it as much as he does. If you stand still long enough, Buster will find a way to lay his head or a paw on you, or nudge you to make sure you know he’s still there for you. Whilst he isn’t especially playful when it comes to toys, Buster may serenade you upon your arrival home with the songs of his squeaker toys.
Buster is obedient with firm voice commands to get off the couch and not to take human food, though he will try for your snack if you are not looking. He is also a pleasure to walk on the lead, but has benefited from a confident foster carer.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, Buster hasn’t been left alone much, and has been known to give a few barks when his carer has left him alone. Despite this, the warm corner of the couch indicates he happily snoozes away his alone time.
Buster cannot be trusted with cats and he has not yet been tested with small dogs. Whilst he can be quite social with larger dogs, Buster requires a forever home with a human willing to slowly and carefully introduce him to smaller dogs.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
