About Fi. Melbourne
Every day, our Fi becomes more comfortable and playful in her foster home. She is learning to love pet life and is mastering new things, such as going up and down stairs. Fi is obedient with her foster carer and has quickly learnt the boundaries in this home. She is a calm girl and enjoys sleeping most of the day away!
Fi can be shy and scared of other dogs, but is incredibly affectionate and cuddly with her humans. Her ideal forever home is one where she is an only dog, with lots of human company. She has mastered the ‘paw for more’ and will let you know it’s not time to stop giving her a belly rub.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, Fi has had little interaction with children and small dogs. To date, she has not had any issues with children on her walks, but she can be curious about smaller dogs at times and other times she’d much prefer to walk the other way!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
