About Asher
Asher
Age: 2
Breed: Kelpie X
Asher is a very special young lady. She came to us with no name, history or information about her past at all.
She was immediately very very cuddly and timid. She is not afraid of people at all.
A week in, Asher still wasn’t eating or drinking much and it was discovered that she had a nasty infection in her uterus and underwent a full hysterectomy.
Since the surgery, Asher is now eating and drinking much more and seems much happier.
Asher absolutely loves pats and cuddles! All she wants is to be with you. For this reason she will need a family who are home a lot or, one she can go to work with. She is happy to lay outside and listen to the world, as long as she knows your home and nearby, but she definitely prefers to be inside with you and sleeping inside is a must.
She doesn’t appear to show any signs of jumping, but being a kelpie, this is a definite possibility, so secure fencing is a must.
Asher loves going for walks, but mostly loves going for a run. She pulls a bit on the lead but when running with her, she won’t pull at all and happily just trots on by your side. She’d make a great running partner!
She is still getting to know her name and will definitely need further training especially with her recall and ‘stay’. She has picked up little tricks very quickly. She is an excellent “sitter” and is also fully house trained. She will sleep on her bed all night with no accidents.
At this stage, Asher should be the only pet in the home. She is ok with other dogs, but will need some socialisation training before she can share her home with another pup.
She IS NOT good with small animals. No cats, bunnies etc. She is very obsessive towards them and has been known to run at birds.
She also is a little reactive to cars and particularly trucks when in the car and on walks, and I think that if she were to get out or run off, she would definitely be a car chaser. So this needs to be taken into consideration.
Asher has now finished her course of antibiotics but will need to be taken to the vet on Wednesday 13th May to have her stitches removed. She is still recovering and should be kept reasonably quiet until then.
