About Jettie. Brisbane
I'm Jettie and I just love, love, love to have and know my own name. I didn't know I had one when I arrived in foster care. It's so exciting to hear my name called - I scramble all over the place to get there and see what is next in my day - oh boy! I’m a petite black girl with just a few dashes of white fur here and there which make me look very chic. I’m five years old and I love learning new behaviours. My willingness and sweet temperament are two of my best assets.
When I get excited, my tail wags and sometimes I spin and hop about. But I don't jump on humans - that's bad manners I know. I really try hard to use the manners I have been taught; I wait for my instruction that my food is ready, I walk nicely on my lead although I do get a bit distracted with all the great things to smell but not by other pooches, not even little ones. I know I shouldn't go into the kitchen (okay - sometimes I forget) and I sure do know where my beds are, but I have to say they need lots of rearranging. Often.
I love to be near my people, but I also love to go outside and zoom around all by myself sometimes. I collect all sorts of things and I just love my green squeaky toy - it is so much fun to run about with. I don't really like being alone yet - I get unsure about what I'm supposed to do – but once I’m in my forever home, I’ll feel reassured and it’ll be fine.
I am not sure yet about cats - social distancing, you know - but I am happy on my walks with all the dogs I pass and meet, and I am fond of kids. I can't wait to meet you.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
