About George. Melbourne
George is a lazy boy, even for a greyhound! He does love his walks but isn’t overly energetic. George enjoys a run around the backyard, but only if he’s playing with his human. He much prefers to sunbake and snooze.
If you’re after a companion who wants endless pats, George might be the dog for you! He doesn’t trouble his foster humans for human food, sleeps in the lounge overnight and alerts his foster carers to his toileting needs (in the morning) promptly at 7am on the dot. George shows his affection by licking his carers on the face and demanding pats around the clock.
George knows that he’s not allowed on the couch in his foster home so could learn this rule in his adoptive home if it is enforced. He knows “go to bed” and is a dream on the lead.
Given the current pandemic restrictions, he has had minimal interactions with other dogs and small children. George requires a forever human willing to put in the continued work on socialising him with small dogs, and encouragement to sniff and move on.
No homes with cats or small dogs please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
